Indicates that something was intentionally made, designed, or produced for a specific target audience or destination. Unlike 向き (happens to suit), 向け stresses deliberate purpose: created with that group in mind.
[Noun] + 向け(だ); [Noun] + 向けの + [Noun]
これは子供向けの番組です。
Kore wa kodomo-muke no bangumi desu.
This is a program made for children.
子供 + 向けの = intentionally produced targeting children
この製品は海外向けに作られている。
Kono seihin wa kaigai-muke ni tsukurarete iru.
This product is made for overseas markets.
海外 + 向けに = deliberately aimed at foreign markets
初心者向けの教材を探している。
Shoshinsha-muke no kyouzai wo sagashite iru.
I'm looking for teaching materials designed for beginners.
初心者 + 向けの = materials created with beginners as the target
• 向け = intentional target/destination of production. • Often with 作る/開発する/販売する. • Use 向けに adverbially, 向けの before a noun.
The JLPT rarely asks whether you recognise a pattern — it asks which of several similar patterns fits. These are the ones ~向けだ/~向け is tested against.
向け = deliberately made for a target; 向き = merely happens to be suitable for someone.
向け specifically labels a target audience/market for a product; ~のために is a broader 'for the benefit/purpose of'.
