This Privacy Policy explains how LenGaki collects, uses, stores, and shares personal information when you visit our website, create an account, use our Japanese learning lessons, or interact with our services.

LenGaki is a language-learning platform designed to help learners study hiragana, katakana, kanji, vocabulary, grammar, JLPT content, and related study tools. To keep the service running, improve learning outcomes, and measure marketing performance, we process limited user information through our own systems and through trusted third-party services.

2. Information We Collect

We may collect information that you provide directly, information created when you use the platform, and information received from third-party services connected to your account or payment activity.

• Account information such as name, email address, password-based account details, and profile preferences.
• If you choose “Continue with Google”, the name, email address and profile picture that Google shares with us to create and sign in to your account.
• Optional profile details you add yourself, such as a profile photo and a phone number, which show in your profile on the website and in the app.
• Learning activity data such as lessons viewed, quiz submissions, flashcard progress, streaks, study time, and achievement progress.
• Your conversations with Lena, LenGaki’s AI tutor (see section 8).
• Device and technical information such as IP address, browser type, operating system, language, screen size, and user agent strings.
• Marketing and attribution data such as page views, conversion events, referral information, cookie identifiers, and campaign parameters when available.
• Payment and subscription information processed by payment providers, including subscription status, transaction identifiers, and billing events.

3. Cookies and Similar Technologies

LenGaki uses cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, understand how the platform is used, and measure advertising performance.

We may use essential cookies for authentication and security, analytics cookies for usage measurement, and advertising cookies for attribution and remarketing. Some cookies are set by us, while others are set by analytics or advertising partners.

• Session and authentication cookies that support login and account continuity.
• Analytics cookies used to understand page views, feature usage, and learning engagement.
• Meta cookies such as _fbp and _fbc when available for ad attribution and conversion measurement.

4. Analytics and Measurement

We use analytics to understand which pages are visited, which learning features are popular, and how users move through the platform. This helps us improve navigation, content quality, and feature design.

Our site currently uses Google Analytics for page-level measurement and may also use internal analytics stored in our application database to summarize learning progress, practice activity, and performance trends.

5. Advertising and Conversion Tracking

We use advertising tools to understand which marketing campaigns lead to signups, subscriptions, and other meaningful actions. This allows us to evaluate ad performance and improve future campaigns.

LenGaki currently uses Meta Pixel and Meta Conversions API. These tools may receive events such as PageView, Login, CompleteRegistration, InitiateCheckout, and Purchase, along with event identifiers for deduplication and attribution.

• Meta Pixel may observe browser-side actions and page visits.
• Meta Conversions API may receive server-side events with IP address, user agent, and cookie signals when available.
• Email address and phone number, if provided for a conversion event, may be normalized and hashed before sending to Meta for matching.
• We use these tools to measure ad performance, reduce double-counting, and improve campaign optimization.

6. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information in the conventional sense. However, we may share information with service providers and partners that help us operate LenGaki, process payments, deliver analytics, or run advertising measurement.

The information shared is limited to what is necessary for the specific service being performed. We aim to keep this sharing narrow, purposeful, and aligned with the function being provided.

• Authentication and database providers that store account records and learning progress.
• Analytics providers that report aggregate or event-level usage patterns.
• Advertising partners that measure campaign performance and conversion quality.
• Payment processors that handle transaction authorization, billing, and subscription management.
• An AI provider, Google Cloud Vertex AI, that generates Lena’s answers.

7. Account and Learning Data

Your account data is used to operate the platform and personalize your learning experience. This includes progress tracking, streak calculation, saved preferences, and access control for paid features.

We may store aggregated learning records such as quiz scores, daily practice time, flashcard review counts, and completion status for different study modules.

A profile photo you upload is stored with our storage provider, Supabase, and served from a public link so the website and the app can show it. Deleting your account deletes it.

• Account creation and authentication.
• Tracking progress across lessons and practice modules.
• Remembering which content you have completed or bookmarked.
• Supporting premium access where applicable.

8. AI Tutor (Lena)

Lena is LenGaki’s AI Japanese tutor. You need an account to chat with her, on the website or in the Android app.

When you send Lena a message, our server checks your daily message allowance and passes the conversation to Google Cloud Vertex AI (Gemini), which generates Lena’s answer. Your name and email address are not part of what is sent.

Your chats are saved to your LenGaki account so they sync between the website and the Android app. They are kept until you delete your account, which deletes them, or until you ask us to delete them.

Please do not share sensitive personal information, such as passwords, payment details or health information, in your chats.

• What is sent: your messages and Lena’s earlier replies in that chat. With “Explain with Lena”, the text you highlight, and for a short quote a note of the page it came from.
• Who processes it: Google Cloud Vertex AI, to generate the answer.
• What we store: your chats and any words you save from them, in your account.

9. Payments and Subscriptions

If you purchase a subscription or make a payment, the transaction is processed through third-party payment providers. We do not store full card numbers on our servers.

We may receive confirmation data from the payment provider, such as transaction IDs, subscription state, payment success or failure, renewal status, and the email address associated with the transaction.

Some billing events may be mirrored into our internal records so that we can manage access, customer support, subscription status, and fraud prevention.

• Subscription creation and verification.
• Payment status and renewal events.
• Provider metadata needed to manage access to premium features.

10. Third-Party Services and Integrations

LenGaki relies on trusted third-party services to deliver parts of the product. Each provider has its own privacy practices, and their use of your information is governed by their own policies.

These integrations may include services for authentication, AI tutoring, analytics, payment, and ad conversion measurement. In some cases, those partners may process data in countries other than your own.

• Supabase for authentication, user records, and database storage.
• Google for “Continue with Google” sign-in, and Google Cloud Vertex AI for Lena’s answers.
• Google Analytics for website measurement.
• Meta for advertising and conversion tracking.
• Payment providers such as Razorpay and Dodo Payments for billing and subscription processing.
• Your browser’s speech recognition on the Speaking page: Chrome, Edge and Safari send the audio to their own speech service to turn it into text. LenGaki does not receive the audio, and recordings made in browsers without speech recognition stay on your device.

11. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for product operation, security, analytics, marketing measurement, account support, billing, and communication.

We only process information where we have a legitimate operational reason, a contractual need, a legal obligation, or your consent where required.

• To create and maintain your account.
• To deliver lessons, quizzes, flashcards, and other learning tools.
• To answer your questions to Lena and keep your chat history.
• To measure platform usage and improve the user experience.
• To track advertising performance and conversion attribution.
• To process payments and manage subscriptions.
• To detect abuse, prevent fraud, and protect the service.

12. Data Retention

We keep personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer retention period is required by law, payment processing, or security needs.

Some learning history and analytics records may be retained in aggregated or de-identified form to preserve progress, evaluate feature quality, or support business reporting.

If you close your account or stop using the service, some records may still remain in logs, backups, invoices, or payment systems for a limited time because they are required for operational, legal, or fraud-prevention reasons.

13. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain personal information, and you may be able to object to or opt out of specific types of processing.

You can also manage browser cookies through your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may affect login, payment flows, or core site functionality.
