    Isshuukan ni sankai, jimu ni ikimasu.

    I go to the gym three times a week.

    一週間に (per week) 三回 (three times)

  • 一日に二回薬を飲んでください。

    Ichinichi ni nikai kusuri wo nonde kudasai.

    Please take medicine twice a day.

    一日に (per day) 二回 (twice)

  • 一か月に一回、映画を見に行きます。

    Ikkagetsu ni ikkai, eiga o mi ni ikimasu.

    I go to see a movie once a month.

    一か月に (per month) 一回 (once)

Usage notes · 注意

  • Pattern: [time period] + に + [number] + 回/度.
  • Detail: 一日に一回 (once a day), 一週間に二回 (twice a week), 一ヶ月に三回 (three times a month).
  • Summary: 度 and 回 both mean "times," but 度 is slightly more formal.

Commonly confused with

The JLPT rarely asks whether you recognise a pattern — it asks which of several similar patterns fits. These are the ones [Period]に[Frequency]回 is tested against.

vs毎〜 (毎日 / 毎週 / 毎月)

毎〜 means 'every ~' (毎日 = every day) without specifying how many times; [period]に[N]回 gives the explicit rate/frequency within that period.
